How The Finances of the Springboks And The All Blacks Could Play A Part in The World Cup Final
I looked at the Springboks' and the All Blacks' financial statements and came across an interesting insight about both teams, which could indirectly play a part in the World Cup final.

πΏπ¦ SA Rugby (the Springboks) made R396 million from sponsorships last year, which is impressive but much lower than New Zealand Rugby (the All Blacks), which pulled in R1.2 billion (NZ$113 million).

New Zealand has a higher GDP per capita, but in absolute terms, South Africa's economy is nearly twice as big. So we wouldn't expect New Zealand to have so much more sponsorship money.
What is driving this big gap?
I think it's the "internationalization" of the All Blacks.
The All Blacks have pushed to become an international brand, not just a national treasure.
For example, their main sponsor is Altrad, a French company owned by Mohed Altrad which also sponsors the French rugby team.
The money is good - reportedly R2 billion over 6 years.

On the other hand the Springboks are driven from South Africa & all the main sponsors of the past have been πΏπ¦ companies or brands. (MTN, Sasol, ABSA, Castle etc)
This is more the "national treasure approach".

MTN's renewed their Springbok sponsorship contract until 2025 so and even after that I expect South African companies to step up again to sponsor.
It would be weird if it were not the case.
Imagine seeing Ox NchΓ© wearing a Springbok Jersey sponsored by L'Oreal. π

To be fair, the All Blacks probably needed to have more of an international fan base.
New Zealand is a small, far-away country with a population of about 5 million (more than 10 times smaller than South Africa), so you need to grow your fan base outside the county as well.

What this means is that there are likely to be more neutrals supporting the All Blacks during the final because of their international push.
But it also means that the fans supporting South Africa are the hard core and deeply invested. Case in point ππΎ.

Overall, I think this will give πΏπ¦ a slight edge but the players will need to deliver.
It will be a fiercely contested final and whoever wins will make history as the first team to win the Rugby World Cup 4 times!
Who do you think will win?

Here is something not on sports but linked to the Springboks' biggest sponsor, MTN.
