I always appreciate reading through your articles; they are always loaded with valuable insights about the businesses we interact with day-to-day on a consumer level; however, I always find myself looking at things from the perspective of a would-be investor by the time I'm through with your pieces.

Your statement, "Econet has no local peer," rang true with me. I have often found myself exploring that issue and throwing about ideas (in my head) around how the other two could legitimately pose a challenge to Econet's dominance locally. Without going too deep into the obvious issues around their shareholding structures, I have toyed with the idea of the red company being bought out by a player such as Airtel - imagine an Airtel Zimbabwe? I feel that might actually shake Econet's table; that's a business war I would buy front-row seats to.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on how that hypothetical acquisition might play out for local stakeholders.

Looks like someone has bought Telectn now, but it's not clear who exactly.
